The FRSC which stands for the Federal Road Safety Corps commonly named Road Safety, their primary function is to regulate the highway for motorists and other road users to avoid accidents and other conflicts on the highway like illegal parking and more.
In February 1988. The Federal Government created the Federal Road Safety Commission through Decree No. 45 of 1988 as amended.
Also, Decree 35 of 1992 is referred to in the statute books as the FRSC Act cap 141 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN).
Passed by the National Assembly as Federal Road Safety Commission (establishment) Act 2007. The functions of the Commission relate to:
- Making the highway safe for motorists and other road users nationwide.
- Recommending works and devices designed to eliminate or minimise the rate of accidents on the highways nationwide.
- Educating motorists and the public on the importance of self-discipline on the highway irrespective of your social status.
