The Duties Of The Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC)

The FRSC which stands for the Federal Road Safety Corps commonly named Road Safety, their primary function is to regulate the highway for motorists and other road users to avoid accidents and other conflicts on the highway like illegal parking and more.

In February 1988. The Federal Government created the Federal Road Safety Commission through Decree No. 45 of 1988 as amended.

Also, Decree 35 of 1992 is referred to in the statute books as the FRSC Act cap 141 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN).

Passed by the National Assembly as Federal Road Safety Commission (establishment) Act 2007. The functions of the Commission relate to:

  •  Making the highway safe for motorists and other road users nationwide.
  •  Recommending works and devices designed to eliminate or minimise the rate of accidents on the highways nationwide.
  •  Educating motorists and the public on the importance of self-discipline on the highway irrespective of your social status.

What is the FRSC Post Service Scheme?

The FRSC post-service scheme is an innovative approach used in securing the future of marshals and corps officers, like helping retired and deceased employees.

What do members of the staff benefit as contributors to the scheme?

  • The habit of saving
  • A source for low-interest loans through its cooperatives
  • Ease of land/house purchase
  • A contingency fund should there be a case of disengagement

What is the position of the staff cooperative scheme?

The PSS acts as a financial auditor to members, approving funds for disbursement and keeping track of the return on investment(RIO)

Will staff still benefit from the contribution even if their appointment gets terminated or if a member dies in service?

yes, the dismissed or a dead member will still benefit from the contribution through a template created by PSS which includes all information about employees, such as their contact information, next of kin, and so on, so that they can pay for his contribution.
